Questions and Answers
How do we know what the correct flowrate for the Flowform model we have chosen?
Each Flowform has a range of flowrates, detailed in this website under Product Specifications for each model, and the pump we specify suits those flows. We also include a flowrate control valve with the plumbing in the packages where appropriate to the model.
How do you get the water running round and round?
The whole system recirculates. Starting with the top Flowform, it runs through the cascade, into an open pond or through rocks into a hidden underground tank, and is then pumped up to the top Flowform again by your pump through buried plumbing.
Can you send me everything I need to set up the complete watersculpture?
Yes, we can. However, usually we send your pump to you from a supplier within your own country as there are different national power ratings and pumps are made to suit these.
I am quite handy at practical things. Can I install everything by myself?
This depends a bit on local regulations and how handy you are. Many clients get their electrician in to connect the pump into the power supply, but this is not needed if you are confident putting the correct plug onto the pump cable and the local law allows it. Otherwise, everything can be easily done by someone following the installation instructions sent with the freight.
How does the Flowform make the water move in the swirling figure-of-eight? Does the pump do this?
No, it happens because of the special shape of the Flowform surfaces designed into the sculpture. All the water needs is a slope to get flowing and it happens by itself!
Can Flowforms operate just with water running through once?
Yes, some clients divert water from a nearby stream and then run it back to the stream after the cascade. Others with a plentiful water supply run a hose into smaller models into a slowly overflowing pond.
Um, tell me where does the water come from when it wells up into the top Flowform?
Mostly the water is circulated by a pump hidden in an inground sump or open pond.
How do I keep my Flowforms clean and well maintained?
One of the great benefits of our unique stone-effect composite Flowforms is that most of them have smooth surfaces, relatively easy to clean. Some Flowform owners prefer the sculptures to develop character through aging, with water marks. They feel it looks more natural, as this happens in the wild anyway. However, if you want to keep them clean, it is best by far to maintain the product regularly. All water features and ponds need regular maintenance. Garden centres clean the ones they have on sale regularly through scrubbing and soft water blasting. Most of our products allow this to be an easy project. The main problems are grime marks, algae or scale. And what is scale? Scale is surface minerals deposited on the sculpture surface from the water you are using. Water with this is called 'hard'. If you have white calcium build up in your hot water jug or on shower walls, and are using the same water source, you will probably get scale on your Flowforms. As soon as grime, algae or scale build up, wet a cloth and clean off. If anything is resistant, use a home bench top cleaner such a Jiff or Ajax. When scale is just getting hold, this works well. Clean off afterwards, especially if you have fish in your pond. The next step up against scale is to go to your hardware store and buy some special cleanser for removing scale from shower walls. They will advise you on its application. If the scale has been allowed to build up inot a hard resistant white stone-like surface, then sand paper will take it back. Or you may want to watch the beautiful patterns build up instead! However 'wet and dry' sandpaper at 400 grit will remove it, moving in a small circular motion. The go over thoroughly with a 600 or 800 grit, and follow with a Carnauba car cream polish and you will see the sculptures return to their original beautiful look. (Avoid using a silicon based wax as this tends to leave white marks in crevices). Please note: Our roughened sandstone surfaces which have many small pores a fraction of a millimetre deep may settle deposits in them. We have applied a special sealer allowing for cleaning, but it may not clean up like our polished stone finishes. For this common sense deeper cleaning methods may be needed similar to concretes. This is totally normal for most water features, but only occurs in our specially designed roughened surface products.
I have a huge pond which could do with one of your marvellous Flowform 'superstreams'. What size and how many Flowforms should I use to do a good job?

What basic information do I need to have in order to know which Flowform is best for me?
1/ What sort of experience of water experience do you want? ie Vigorous and active? Gentle, soft and calm? 2/ Where do you want running water? 3/ What length, width and height is that place? 4/ Maybe you love one of the models and don't know where it can go........see next question!
What do I do if I don't know where I can install a Flowform in my garden or home?
