Riddiford Gardens, DESIGN CONCEPTS:The Lower Hutt City Council was already developing a garden courtyard area when Design for Life was approached to supply a water feature. A rectangular sloped space was provided and we placed Taruna and Miroma Flowforms there cascading into a small pond. The idea was to take the form of the many landscaped steps into the cascades, as well as provide the courtyard with the focussing splash and swirl of water. The linear symmetry brought together the whole area into a focal sounding point which passers-by loved to stop and experience.
COMMENT:
"This beautiful Flowform sculpture in Riddiford Gardens is a greatly admired asset of the city" - Recreation Assets Manager, 1992 . |

When the Mayor, Sir John Kennedy-Good, opened the sculpture he remarked on the rhythmical nature of the Flowform water flow saying - " Now our city has a heart!"
